What would you do when you collected a closet full of Fred Perry shirts enough to wear a Fred Perry every day for a month? Well, at least wear them a lot. But Stuart Compton, who lives in Suffolk (U.K.), got asked by his fiancée Natalie how many shirts he exactly had. His answer: Probably enough to wear a different one each day for a month. Fun answer right, but then Natalie came up with the idea of wearing a Fred Perry a day for the month of May, and Stuart decided to accept the challenge and the rest is history. Today marks the final day of his one-month Fred Perry streak and we had to talk with Stuart about this super creative and fun journey!
How can you go wrong?
When asked to explain to us why he likes Fred Perry so much and what it means to him he replied: ‘Simply because it’s timeless. It doesn’t matter age or gender, smart or casual, nothing beats a Fred Perry! It’s such an iconic piece of British clothing. Even better is that today there are so many gorgeous colours & shades to choose from! How can you go wrong?‘ We couldn’t agree more! You never have enough Fred Perry’s right? Well, in Stuart’s case, he maybe lost count? He states: ‘It’s brought to me the reality that I might have more Fred Perry’s than the average person It’s also brought me lots of lovely comments and new friends, plus I hope made people more aware of the amazing brand that is Fred Perry.‘
1979
As most of you probably know Fred Perry was a British tennis player best known as the founder of the eponymous fashion brand. In the 1960s and 1970s, the Fred Perry polo shirt became associated with the mod and skinhead subcultures in the UK, and it was worn by many young people as a symbol of rebellion and nonconformity. Stuart got into Fred Perry at the tender age of 11 years old in 1979: ‘I was very much into two-tone in the early 80’s – the music and the fashion. I loved it and really felt that I was part of a movement! White Fred Perry, black Harrington jacket, and black tasseled loafers!‘
The main question…
Stuart’s challenge created a bit of interest on social media, and his fiancée even contacted Fred Perry to make them aware of his campaign and he’s hoping to hear back from them. We encourage Fred Perry officials to support this incredible challenge and spread the word, so please unite and use the power of social networks by sharing this article or Stuart’s socials!
To wrap it up
But, the main question is of course: how many Fred Perry shirts did Stuart own? The answer: 33! So can Stuart wear a unique Fred Perry shirt every day in one month? Yes, he can!
