Hailing from Bristol (U.K.), Claw Hand Joe is a DIY-artist who just released his album ENUFF’S ENUFF. Adam Bray, who is the man behind Claw Hand Joe’, recorded almost all instruments by himself at home. He called the album ENUFF’S ENUFF to readdress the lack of information in the press regarding all the strike action that’s been taking place. His message is to strive for a world less miserable than the one we got at the moment, not all the songs are overtly political though, some of them are a bit more personal dealing with past traumas and stuff.
The album kicks off with titletrack ENUFF’S ENUFF. A fast paced punk song with a very catchy chorus where the title of the song is shouted repeatedly so that it gets stuck in your head. A cheerful organ pops up here and there and gives the album color. Adam’s voice fits perfectly with the music he makes and we were in the 70s or 80s for a while. And it certainly helps that the production is nice and raw, yet clear, which really adds something to the atmosphere.
Another song that stands out is Yesterday’s Keyworker Is Today’s Enemy Of The State. Again a fast heavy hitter which is full of social criticism. Dried Pigs With Rainbow Hair Standing Profile Toward Crowds, which is a fantastic title in itself, is a beautiful composed mostly instrumental song and blends in perfectly with all the other songs. A moment to breathe! The album closes with Going Home, a cheerful song about the feeling of coming home. Something we all know!
ENUFF’S ENUFF is a neat work with 12 fun songs which almost everyone can relate to in some way. Modern society is sometimes rough, unfair and strange when you think about it. If you are really into DIY punk you really should give this one a listen! We truly enjoyed it a lot!
