Muse have added fresh firepower to their live set with the surprise debut of a brand-new track, Unravelling — a sprawling, synth-laced epic that fuses their futuristic leanings with the kind of thunderous riffs that defined their early years. The song made its first appearance as a set opener during the European leg of their latest tour.
Ahead of the reveal, the band had been quietly teasing new material. A cryptic clip shared on social media featured glitchy visuals and the phrase “Back at it”, sparking fan speculation about an imminent release. The arrival of Unravelling confirmed those suspicions.
Musically, the track begins in moody, cinematic territory — reminiscent of The 2nd Law and Simulation Theory — before launching into full-blown space-rock chaos, drawing clear lines back to Absolution, Origin of Symmetry, and Drones. It’s classic Muse: dramatic, textured, and unapologetically over the top.
As of now, no official announcement has been made about a new album. Whether Unravelling is a standalone release or the first sign of a bigger project remains to be seen.
