Manchester duo Hot Milk first emerged in 2019 with sugary hooks, dual vocals, and plenty of eyeliner. But what started as pop-punk flirtation quickly hardened into something sharper. They’ve toured with Foo Fighters, released a string of punchy EPs, and steadily built a reputation for mixing heart-on-sleeve emotion with biting political commentary. Corporation Pop, their debut full-length, is their boldest work yet: louder, darker, and more furious.

Right from opener Insubordinate Ingerland, the shift is obvious. Synths clash with sarcasm, and Han Mee lashes out at British decay with a wink and a snarl. “Stop your dreaming and drink your pint,” she growls, backed by a beat made for flailing limbs. It’s not just government-bashing either—‘The American Machine’ aims global rot, with Jim Shaw screaming through guitar lines made of rust and anger.
Hot Milk still manages melody through the mayhem. Swallow This preaches defiance, Chase The Dragon softens the edges with a bruised love song, and Asphyxiate stands out as their finest duet yet, starting in quiet despair and rising to something near-euphoric. By the time the curtain falls on Sympathy Symphony, all masks are off. It’s messy, it’s loud, and it’s necessary.
Corporation Pop is an unfiltered burst of frustration. Smart, hook-laden, and deeply Northern, it proves Hot Milk aren’t just shouting into the void – they’re leading a singalong.
