Turnstile formed in Baltimore in 2010 and started as a hardcore punk band. Over time, they’ve added other styles to their sound – bits of alt-rock, funk, and more melodic elements. Each album has moved them in a slightly different direction, especially 2021’s Glow On, which brought in a softer, more open sound without fully leaving behind their heavier roots.
Their new album, Never Enough, comes out next week on 6 June 2025. It continues the band’s shift into something more balanced and reflective. The opening track, Never Enough, starts with familiar Turnstile energy – sharp guitars and steady drums – but then slows into an ambient outro with piano and soft textures. It’s a calm moment that doesn’t feel out of place.

Look Out For Me is one of the more direct songs on the album. It’s mid-paced and built around a catchy chorus. The vocals are straightforward, and the music remains tight without overdoing it. It’s solid and easy to return to.
Seeing Stars leans even further away from hardcore. It begins with clean, echo-heavy guitars and maintains a calm tone throughout. There’s no distortion or aggressive drumming – it’s a chilled-out track with a pop influence, but it still sounds like Turnstile.
For contrast, Birds brings back the speed. It’s a fast punk song made for live shows. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and adds a needed burst of energy in the middle of the album.
The whole record feels more relaxed than some of their past work. It’s not about big moments or trying to sound massive. Instead, it moves steadily, letting each song have its own space. There’s still rhythm and intensity, but it’s used more carefully. The production is clean but not overdone. Nothing feels forced.
Turnstile isn’t trying to shock or impress with this album. They’re just continuing to change, at their own pace. Never Enough sounds like a band that’s comfortable with where they’re going, and not worried about fitting any one style. It’s not about extremes – it’s about balance.
